ANTI-OPEN GRAZING LAW: Court dismisses suit by Miyetti Allah against Benue govt

Justice Okon Abang of a federal high court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday dismissed the suit by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore challenging the anti-open grazing law in Benue State.

The Fulani group had filed the case challenging the open grazing prohibition and establishment law passed by the Benue State House of Assembly.

While he dismissed the suit, the Judge held that the plaintiff failed to comply with an order issued by the court in 2017 which directed the association to amend the originating summons.

The Court also awarded N100,000 damages against the herdsmen.

The fine, according to the presiding judge, will be paid to all the 14 defendants named in the suit.
