Anxiety, as Osun awaits test results of 30 people who had contacts with COVID-19 patients

There is palpable anxiety in some local governments of Osun State as the government has said that it was awaiting test results of 30 persons who had contacts with COVID-19 patients in the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said that samples of the 30 persons were sent for COVID-19 after it was established they came in contact with patients suffering from the dreaded virus.

According to the Health Commissioner, the samples were collected during the weekend through Monday and were sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) accredited testing centre, the African Centre of Excellence in Genomics of Infectious Diseases, Ede, Osun State.

Isamotu revealed that the individuals whose samples were collected hail from Ejigbo, Osu, Ife-East, Ilesa and Ede local government areas of the state.

According to the commissioner, the state government embarked on the sample exercise after the wife of a confirmed case in Ife travelled to Osu after leaving Ife, before returning to Ilesa.
