APC alleges Gov Mimiko got N500m from Armsgate
Ondo state All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Governor Olusegun Mimiko of receiving N500 million from the arms deal money.
The party in a statement released by its state publicity secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya,on Sunday alleged that the governor received the said money out of the $2.1 billion arms deal from the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
According to him, the money was received during the period of the last general election when Mimiko served as the chairman of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign in Southwest.
Adesanya said “We consider it as evil and callous for anyone to have received and diverted funds meant for the procurement of arms to fund the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015. As the chairman of Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign in the Southwest, we do hold that despite the immunity that Mr. Governor enjoys, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has a case to answer on this issue.”
He added that the governor used a factional chairman of the PDP in the state, Clement Faboyede, as an agent for laundering the funds, alleging that Faboyede has since been on the run to avoid arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“A factional chairman of the PDP in Ondo state, Clement Faboyede, who the governor reportedly used as a courier to collect the funds from the office of the NSA, has since absconded and deserted the State for the fear of being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,” Adesanya posited.
