APC alleges that Jonathan squandered N33tn

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration failed to account for N33tn in national oil revenue alone.

It also accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government, of mismanaging $15bn foreign reserve, and not paying $20bn oil proceed into the federation account among many others.

APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who detailed these in a statement on Thursday, noted that PDP having brought Nigeria to its present situation after 16 years of locust, lacks the moral basis and the credibility to comment on the country’s economy or condemn President Muhammadu Buhari that is working hard to clear the mess left behind by the disgraced former ruling party.

The statement was issued by his Media Office in Abuja and made available by Segun Dipe.

Part of the statement reads, “It is stomach-churning and downright immoral for the ruinous PDP, which has yet to show remorse or exhibit any form of penitence for presiding over the mindless looting of the nation’s treasury, to now put itself up as the saviour of Nigerians.

“Even among thieves, there must be honour, Nigerians, who are now bearing the brunt of the economy that was mindlessly mismanaged by the PDP, cannot forget in a hurry that some $15bn, which is about half of the nation’s foreign reserves at the end of the tenure of the PDP-led Federal Government, was mismanaged under the guise of the equipping the military, when in reality the funds were largely salted away by PDP fat cats.

“Nigerians are also not unaware that just before the last general elections, some $2.1bn was shared out to just a few PDP faithful, either to be used for praying again Boko Haram or for phantom communication purposes, when in reality the soldiers whom the money was meant to equip were dying in droves.”

Other instances of massive looting of the nation by the PDP which Oyegun listed include, $20bn in oil proceeds that was never paid into the Federation Account, N33tn in national oil revenue that was not accounted for, $47m that was distributed to a few individuals just to oil the election process before the last polls.

Oyegun argued, “Considering that while the nation earned in excess of N56 trillion over five years under the last administration, the total budget for those years amounted to about N23 trillion.”

The APC has continued to blame the PDP as the principal cause of the present economic crisis in Nigeria, where many homes can hardly afford a meal in a day. The PDP on the other hand says Nigerians are suffering today because of the cluelessness of the APC-led government.

[The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has said that at least N33tn disappeared under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Chief Oyegun made this statement in response to the criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari led administration by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the current hardship in the country.

The APC Chieftain furthered that Nigerians, who are now bearing the brunt of the economy that was mindlessly mismanaged by the PDP, cannot forget in a hurry that some $15bn – which is about half of the nation’s foreign reserves at the end of the tenure of the PDP-led Federal Government – was mismanaged under the guise of the equipping the military, when in reality the funds were stolen by the PDP.]

All these allegations no prove is given to show how or where the funds were lodged! Chief John Oyegon and group you’re awaiting the loots of Sani Abacha and you forget that same Abacha set up an inquiry to probe the expenditures of the ‘Oil and Gas Wind fall’ under IBB’s administration and in fact completed it with a report handed to the government! The SERAP group tried to get OBJ to look into the recommendations of that Report he (OBJ) denied he ever saw the Report and asked for it to be handed in nobody did anything about it! Now, you’re recovering Abacha’s loot as if it was only Sani Abacha that looted the coffers of Nigeria! PDP and its members are all aware of this report and that the administrations are dithering on doing anything about it; in particular the Niger Delta people probable know and could have copy of the Report! Now, everybody is calling on Dr. G. Jonathan and his administration! Last year OBJ launched a Fund in London and part of the Trillions could well have been donated into the Fund by Governors who were present at the launch – nobody is talking about that possibility! And I talked about cowardice of government in Nigeria’s administrative set-up! We are all witnesses to these reports and are anxiously waiting to see how the issues are settled in Nigeria under APC! Niger Delta people know about this report and the loots and must be part reasons for their agitations in that part of the country! The quest is: What is APC and Chief John Oyegun going to do about these issues and for Jonathan he told us he can expose things that happened we are saying is it not time you did this for Nigeria so that we know who is has done what! And I said it earlier that Nigeria is in a QUANDARY afflicting even the PhD holders, folks!
