APC asks Nigerian govt to take over South African businesses

A new twist has been added to the ongoing outrage occasioned by xenophobic attacks in South Africa, as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, asked the Federal Government to take over businesses belonging to South Africans in the country.

The party made the call after an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja on Thursday, adding that the Federal Government should ensure a complete takeover of Shoprite, MTN and other South African businesses in the country by Nigerians.

The ruling party also called for the revocation of licenses of banks owned by the South Africans in Nigeria.

The banks include Stanbic IBTC and Standard Chartered banks.
