NASS LEADERSHIP: Group seeks to nullify APC zoning arrangements in new suit

Former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole on Thursday formally announced his intention to contest for the position of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oshiomhole, who has been severally taunted as being pushed for the position to displace incumbent Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, stated that against popular belief, he is not a reluctant candidate.

The former labour leader, during his declaration, commended Oyegun for how far he has led the party, adding that he hopes to be an improved version of Oyegun.

He said, “I am running for the office of the national chairman because everything can get better and because its in line with the party’s constitution.

“I’m willing to contest so as to make a difference and contribute to what Oyegun has done in the party.

“Mind you my running does not mean Oyegun has failed but to continue with his works. My contesting is not to lament the use of power but ensure good membership base.”

“I want to be of help, of use to all those who needs it, but I’m not capable for being used.”

Oshiomhole noted during the declaration that the worst critics of President Muhammadu Buhari will agree that if for nothing else, that “Buhari is not a thief.” This, he said, will be a starting point for him to use in favour of APC if he becomes the next chairman of the party.
