Amid ongoing protests in the capital city and other parts of the country, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has played down the demonstrations, stating that challenges and protests against government policies are not unique to Nigeria.

Speaking to party leaders from the United States on Wednesday, Ganduje assured that the current challenges facing the country would soon be overcome.

He noted that even developed economies experience turbulence, and Nigeria’s issues were not unprecedented.

Ganduje attributed the protests to the government’s reform agenda, which he said often encounters obstacles and requires sacrifices from citizens.

He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would implement reforms to secure the country’s future, despite acknowledging that Nigeria’s institutions are weak.

He said, “There is no doubt, as a developing country, even the so-called developed economies have their turbulence in one way or the other.

“So, it is not surprising that Nigeria is having its own share of the problem. This is not the first time.

“You will recall that whenever there is a reform agenda, obstacles must be on the way, as a result, people must suffer in one way or the other.

“But, in the long run, everything will be according to the plan.”

The APC chairman’s comments come as Nigerians continue to protest against various government policies, sparking concerns about the country’s stability.
