OSHIOMHOLE CHAIRMANSHIP: APC mocks PDP

The expected next national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, now has only one contender to battle the seat with.

Oshiomhole now has Clement Ebri from Cross River, as his only challenger for the chairmanship race, and there are speculations that Ebri may also quit like others.

Already two of the contenders, Ibrahim Emokpaire, an American based member of the party, and Osereimhen Osunbor, also a former governor of Edo State have withdrawn from the race.

Osunbor announced his withdrawal in a statement he released on Wednesday, claiming that he had to take the decision out of the respect he has for President Muhammadu Buhari.

He also claimed thar the action was to “avoid unduly prolonging the voting exercise during the national convention,In the interest of a rancour-free national convention and to ease the work of the National Convention Committee and in the overall interest of our party the All Progressives Congress”.

He said, “I have decided to withdraw from the race and also endorse Adams Oshiomhole.”

He therefore endorsed Oshiomhole for the chairmanship for the Saturday June 23, national convention of the party.

He urged those who expressed support for his candidature, and may feel disappointed by this development to bear with him.

Emokpaire had earlier withdrawn from the chairmanship race.
