APC CHIEFTAIN TO EL’RUFAI: Deapite office demolition madness, your suspension stands

A chieftain of the Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Tom Maiyashi, has lambasted the state governor Nasir El-Rufai for demolishing a building housing the offices of a faction of the party in the state.

Describing the act as a display of “madness”, he said that the action will not in any way change the six months suspension handed to the governor by the APC faction.

An office building of a faction of APC in Kaduna State, said to be owned by Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, who represents Kaduna North at the Senate, was early hours of Tuesday demolished by the state government.

The demolition came after a faction of the APC led by the senator two days ago, announced that it had suspended Governor El’Rufai for failing to respond to a query that was issued to him.

But speaking to newsmen in Kaduna at the scene of the demolition, Maiyashi said the action of the state government showed political immaturity, adding that it was prove that El-Rufai does not have the leadership ability to withstand the political pressure within his party.

“This is madness, embarrassing and this has shown that the governor has failed the people of Kaduna State. Despite all this madness, his suspension stands.

“I am disappointed with what I am seeing today. This is my saddest day as a politician. Since my career as a Civil Servant and as a politician, I have never seen this kind of political witch hunting.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Ibrahim Husseini, the Director-General, the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), has said that the demolition was not politically motivated.

According to him, the demolition was part of Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA) mandate to clear illegal structures, tackling street hawking and restoring order across Kaduna.
