APC chieftains differ with Tinubu, Atiku on call for Oyegun to resign
There seems to be more divisions brewing in the ruling APC over calls for the resignation of the national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun

Chairman of APC United Front, a group in the ruling party, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, and one of the governorship aspirants in the governorship primary in Ondo State, Dr Tunji Abayomi, have both condemned the call for Oyegun to resign.
Odigie-Oyegun, who failed to win the election in his own unit in the just concluded Edo State governorship election, was asked to resign his position as the party Chairman by Senator Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader, over his role in the Ondo State APC primaries.
Toeing the same line, another party leader, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as well the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Timi Frank, also echoed similar calls.
But Alhaji Musa, has described as laughable, the calls by Oyegun to resign as chairman of the party.

He said in a statement, that “The world has seen a more progressive party in APC under Oyegun’s dynamic leadership. Chief Oyegun is not under the influence of a powerful and sinister arm of government. He will never thwart the will of the people. He is a man of honour, integrity and dignity.”
According to Musa, Oyegun gave equal rights and opportunities to members of the APC regardless of status, class and affiliation…. He is an embodiment of transparency and accountability.”
On his part, Abayomi said “Tinubu was wrong to have asked the national chairman to resign because the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party upheld the result of the primary of the party held on September 3, 2016 in Akure.
“For calling for the resignation of the chairman, I think Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is very wrong because he is not a member of the NWC and he cannot speak for the NWC. He did not participate in the entire process and whatever information he has must have been given to him by his agents.
“We heard it that there was no vote casting among the NWC members before they took the decision over the matter contrary to his allegation in his letter to the chairman, and also the position of the party was that there was no vote casting, I expect Asiwaju as a leader of the party to give credit to the vital opinions on the primary.”
