Gbajabiamila speaks on why Nigeria must remain one

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed its adoption of House of Representatives Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, as its candidate for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly.

The party’s nation publicity secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, made this known in a terse message he posted on a social media platform on Tuesday night.

According to him, the ruling party arrived at the decision following an intensive consideration with its House of Representatives members-elect at a dinner with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Banquet Hall of Aso Villa.

APC national spokesman went further to reveal that the party has zoned the position of the Deputy Speaker to the North Central.

The development is coming after APC deputy national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, had earlier on Tuesday warned the party not to zone any leadership position to North West and South West, which are where President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo hail from respectively.

He had warned, that allowing Gbajabiamila, from South West, to become the next Reps Speaker may not be a fair decision to the other four zones of the country.
