APC CONVENTION: Buhari’s aide denies existence of unity list

The story of some special candidates, whose names have been penned down in a list called “unity list” and said to be enjoying the support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders especially governors, has been refuted by an aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Rumours were that candidates contesting 43 positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party are in panic mode ahead of the Saturday convention of the party over the existence of the unity list.

Among the candidates said to have been in a very high apprehensive mood are those from the South-East, who according to the rumours are afraid that the party’s governors are backing candidates from the zone that are loyal to Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Recall that Okorocha, who heads APC’s Convention Appeals Sub-Committee has been in a running battle with APC stakeholders in his state as well as leaders the zone.

However, Dabiri-Erewa, Special Assistant to President Buhari on Diaspora Matters, who spoke to newsmen on the matter said, “No unity list, there’s room for affirmation, consensus; there is no unity list but what you can say is APC list. Anywhere you see any such list it is fake. There are 20 unopposed positions and 42 to be contested, that’s about the summary.”
