NASS LEADERSHIP: APC to make its position known soon

Some governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), it has been learnt, met in Abuja on Sunday to strategize on how to halt plots to remove the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is fixed to hold on Tuesday (Tomorrow). The meeting is expected to be a moment the party will decide whether Oshiomhole would continue as the party chairman or not.

Some leaders of APC in South-South, where the APC embattled chairman hails from, were said to have met recently and vowed to ensure Oshiomhole’s removal and replacement.

However, the governors of the party, said to be pro-Oshiomhole, in their meeting in Abuja Sunday night, at Kano State lodge reportedly strategised on how they would counter moves by anti-Oshiomhole group.

It was gathered that the governors at the meeting included Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Umar Ganduje (Kano), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and Gboyega Oyetola (Osun).

Some APC chieftains also met in Abuja on Sunday and passed a vote of confidence on Oshiomhole.

The chieftains, took the position at an interactive session that had in attendance the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba; former Minister of Works Chris Ogiemwonyi; House of Representatives Deputy Leader Peter Akpatason, House member Julius Ihonvbere and a former member, Abdul Oroh.

Also in attendance during the meeting included non-National Working Committee members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), Chief Nelson Alapa, and Zonal Women Leader, North Central Hajia Hassana Abdullahi.

Others were Edo State APC Chairman Col. David Imuse (rtd), Abubakar Momoh, Comrade Tony Kabaka and Secretary Buhari Campaign Council Dr Ibrahim Dauda.

Akpatason, speaking at the meeting said, “He (Oshiomhole) is a no-nonsense man and so I am not surprised that he has enemies here and there, especially as we have individuals who for their selfish reasons would want to pull down an organisation the moment a leader does not do their bidding.”
