Gov Bello says he holds no grudge against Faleke

After what seemed an impossible mission, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Monday unveiled Alh. Yahaya Bello, popularly known as Fair Plus as the replacement for the late Prince Abubakar Audu for the Saturday supplementary election in Kogi State.

Alh. Yahaya Bello was runner-up in the APC governorship primaries.

National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, unveiled Bello at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja, Monday after about 3 hours of meeting, urging party leaders and stakeholders to accept the decision of the party leadership and ensure the party becomes victorious in Saturday’s supplementary poll.

The party also announced that Hon James Abiodun Faleke will be Bello’s running mate, but the former Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area rejected the offer.

According to Oyegun, the decision to nominate Bello was borne out of the need to conform to the electoral laws of the nation and to ensure cohesion and fairness.

In his acceptance speech, Bello pledged to ensure immediate reconciliation of all aggrieved parties in the party, saying he was more than prepared to lead the party to a resounding victory on December 5. He called on all the party leaders to work with him to take the party to higher heights.

He also pledged to immortalize the late Prince Abubakar Audu, describing him as a great leader who contributed immensely to the development of Kogi State while he was governor. He urged the youths of the state to team up with him to foster a united Kogi State.
