Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as laughable the call for Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transport’s resignation, by the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PDP had asked Amaechi to resign his position because he has no moral basis to continue in office after the allegations of bribery levelled against him by two judges of the Supreme Court.

Mr Felix Obuah, the state PDP Chairman, who stated this in a statement released on Sunday, demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari relieve Amaechi as a member of his cabinet in order to give room for detailed investigation of the allegations against him.

Obuah said, “To further prove his innocence of the various allegations, Mr. Amaechi should resign, cooperate and allow the process of his investigation by not sabotaging any of such efforts in getting to the truth. The revelations have vindicated the PDP in Rivers State, as it has consistently complained about the corrupt and undemocratic dispositions of Amaechi and some of his APC folks.

“We demand thorough investigation into these stunning revelations by these honourable Justices of the Supreme Court and call on the accused to resign immediately, as he lacks the moral rectitude to remain in office as a public servant.”

But reacting, the state APC through the Media aide to the Chairman, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka, rebuffed the allegations by the judges and described them as baseless and unfounded.

“I consider PDP’s suggestion that Amaechi should resign because two drowning Justices are looking for a tool to stay afloat as not only laughable, mischievous but exposure of a group that so desperate to expose their evil plots against a man whom they see as the arrowhead that dislodged them from power at the centre.

“These useless calls based on the unfounded and baseless attempted bribery allegations against the former Rivers State Governor confirms our fears and stand that the two discredited Justices made these allegations as part of a political strategy to run down the political fortunes of this rising star,” APC said.

these people have no shame, chief Eze claiming the allegations are baseless and unfounded is just typical of APC. Amaechi is corrupt and he thinks he is entitled. His resignation should be demanded by the Presidency and not just the opposing party.

Guy, you are the comedian here oo, if that is how people become saint and they are forgiven then i guess the judges have repented of their alleged sins and the likes of obanikoro and fani kayode too, they should not be held and harassed by the Efcc. abii nahh. lets run it your way. The presidency says this administration is majorly going to fight corruption irrespective of your affiliations. if amaechi resignation is not demanded, then the fight against corruption is one sided

Yes, I support the sack of Amaechi. He is over corrupt and needs to be prosecuted for the atrocities he has committed. Buhari should not spare Amaechi as a sacred cow.
