APC loses again as former gov dumps party

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has again lost another of its chieftains, as a former Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Ambassador James Barka, has dumped the party.

Barka, also a former Nigerian Ambassador to Malaysia, who joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) predicated his defection on lack of integrity on the part of the governor of the state, Umaru Jibrilla.

The former acting governor announced his defection on Friday when the state chairman of the PDP and other party leaders visited him at his residence in Yolanda.

He said: “People should have integrity. When you say A, it should be A.

“When you say, Chairman let’s meet tomorrow by 11am; it should be so.

“This is a government I helped to build, spending my resources and time, but today they hardly recognise whether we exist at all

“APC has failed Nigerians in a number of ways. We left the PDP in 2014 because of impunity but surprisingly, APC has become worse when it comes to impunity”, Barka said.

Barka is also a member of the Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative (PCNI). It is not yet clear if he resigned from the committee before his defection.
