APC will kill democracy in Nigeria, Agbaje implies

Former Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has blamed the leadership crisis in his party on the ruling APC.

According to him, the confusion surrounding the party’s national convention in Port Harcourt is part of the shenanigans by the ruling All People’s Congress (APC).

He stated that by meddling in the internal affairs of other parties, the ruling APC will not allow democracy to thrive in Nigeria, as democracy cannot survive without a viable opposition.

Agbaje, an aspirant for the national chairmanship position of the PDP, stated that the aborting of the PDP Convention ruffled feathers.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Felix Oboagwina, Agbaje said: “PDP did everything to nourish democracy. But it is obvious that the ruling party does not want a viable opposition.

“APC must realise that without a thriving opposition, democracy cannot survive.”

Agbaje urged the media and civil society to take the ruling party to task on the need to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the opposition.

Agbaje said the crisis leading to the postponement of the PDP Convention far outweighed his own personal disappointment.
