A former senate president, Ken Nnamani expressed optimism on Sunday that the All Progressive Congress (APC) would win the Anambra State governorship election slated for next year.

Nnamani, who disclosed this during a welcome party organized for him by APC stakeholders in Enugu State, said the new caretaker committee would reposition the party to win all elections in the country, especially in the South East.

The ex-senate president added that the committee would harmonize the party and allow it to play as a team

He said: “The South East stakeholders of the party are now united and formidable to compete with other political parties. The Anambra governorship election would be a starting point in the zone.

“Next year, there will be an election in Anambra and it will be a show of strength between APC and other political parties. We will try to do well in Anambra using Imo as our take-off point and launching pad.

“So, some people said the Ndigbo can’t get together. We are beginning to show that we can get together. All the political leaders in the South East state and ministers were present in Owerri and that is our second meeting since the inauguration of the national caretaker committee.

“The party will now work as a team, play as a team, and not as faction anymore. For instance, some states had several party membership cards. We want to see the harmonization of those registers so that the party can boast of a unified register, no parallel structures.

“The key thing there is that the national leadership had requested members who had gone to court for one reason or the other to withdraw such cases to give the chance for reconciliation for the APC to become a unified party and work as a team.”
