APC’s Sen. Misau claims cabals not Buhari in charge of govt, hints on plot to impeach Saraki

A Senator from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Isah Misau, who represents Bauchi Central senatorial district at the Senate, has alleged that cabals in the Presidential Villa Abuja and not President Muhammadu Buhari have been the ones running Nigerian government.

According to the outspoken senator, these cabals have remained the ones deciding federal appointments.

The senator stated this in his contribution on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, accusing some of the ministers of clearly failing in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He said, “Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, President Buhari is not in charge, but the cabals. They determine who and who to be appointed. During our New year holiday, cabals in the Presidency became suspicious that the Senate President may defect to PDP, so they have made up their minds to initiate impeachment moves against him”, Misau alleged.

Accusing some of the ministers of failing in their duties, Misau specifically stated that “the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, was almost a nuisance.”

On the recent appointment of a Director General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Misau said the appointment was an error, explaining that the DG had failed his career exams twice but got appointed as Senior Special Assistant, foreign matters before the recent development.

Misau, who is still in court over allegations of corruption he leveled against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, further lamented the failures of Buhari’s administration in the implementation of policies that would better the lot of Nigerians.

Meanwhile, in his contribution, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial district disagreed with Misau, saying that all arms of government were a subset of each other.

Admonishing his colleagues on decorum rather than making sweeping statements and that lawmakers should not be antagonistic to the executive, he argued that the failure of the executive was also the failure of legislative arm.
