Appeal Court okays Dasuki’s detention
An attempt by the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, to regain freedom was Wednesday scuttled by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, when it ruled that his continued detention was in order.
According to the appellate court, Dasuki’s re-arrest after he was released from prison custody on December 29, 2015 was not a violation of any existing order.
The appellate court gave the ruling Wednesday evening in an appeal brought the former NSA against his continued detention by the Department of State Services, DSS.

The judgement was delivered by Justice Abdul Aboki, who led a panel of five justices.
Dasuki had approached the Appeal Court to contest the earlier rulings of Justices Husein Baba Yusuf of the High Court of the Federal Capital territory, FCT, Abuja and Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The judges had ruled that the action of the DSS in re-arresting Dasuki after he was released by authority of the Kuje prison, upon meeting the bail conditions granted him by three judges before whom he is standing trial, was not a violation of any existing orders.
The Appeal Court justices, in a unanimous decision, held that Dasuki’s appeal was incompetent and dismissed it.
