A Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to retain the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, David Lyon, in the ballot for Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The court gave the order following an ex parte motion filed by Lyon’s counsel on Thursday.

A Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa had on Thursday disqualified the APC candidate from the governorship election after nullifying the party’s primaries held in September.

Two days earlier, another court also disqualified Lyon’s running mate, Biobarakuma Degi Eremienyo, for presenting false information to  the INEC.
