RIVERS: Cole, others in trouble as A'Court affirms APC cannot contest in 2019

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately reinstate its candidates based on Monday’s ruling of the Appeal Court, which granted a stay of execution of the judgement of the Federal High Court that nullified APC primaries.

The Appeal Court stopped the execution of the ruling of Justice Kolawole Omotosho of the Federal High Court, which had restrained INEC from fielding any of the party’s candidates for the forthcoming 2019 elections.

A statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chris Finebone, hailed the ruling of the Appeal Court, adding that the APC in Rivers State has been vindicated.

“We have been vindicated; we have always said that the wheel of justice may grind slowly, sometimes annoyingly slowly, but surely justice comes ultimately. We believe that today’s judgment has vindicated APC in Rivers State.

“All Rivers APC faithful should remain resolute as we are set to recover all that Satan has battled so hard to take away from us.

“INEC, by today’s Appeal Court ruling, should by now be reinstating our candidates’ names on the ballot in line with the status quo before the pronouncement by the Federal High Court of Justice Omotosho,” the party at the state level said.
