Appeal Court sacks Adeyeye, Olujimi takes his seat in Senate

Suit seeking to stop Senate from spending N5.5bn on vehicles based on mere rumour - Adeyeye

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by the Senate spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye and declared Senator Abiodun Olujimi as duly elected senator from the Ekiti South Senatorial District.

Adeyeye had challenged the verdict of the National and State Assemblies Election Petitions Tribunal which declared Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the February 23 election..

Justice Uzor Anyanwu, who read the appellate court’s lead judgment on Wednesday, ruled that Adeyeye’s appeal lacked merit.

He was a former national spokesman of the PDP and left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2017 after he failed to secure the party’s governorship ticket for the last governorship election in Ekiti State.
