Appeal Court to settle Makarfi, Sheriff’s tussle for soul of PDP on Friday

There may be hope yet to resolve the legality of the leadership tussle within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, is expected to give verdict on the matter this Friday.
Two senators from the North, Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff have traversed different courts in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt in a legal battle for who should be the authentic leader of PDP.
The case has seen different courts of competent jurisdiction and status giving varying and opposing orders and rulings.

However, the judgment of the Appeal Court this Friday may finally bring to an end the protracted crisis and decide between the National Caretaker Committee of the party headed by Makarfi and the factional leadership of the party led by Sheriff, who should be the authentic chairman of the party.
Already, the two factions of the party have declared their willingness to abide by whatever ruling the Appeal Court declares with a view to bringing lasting peace to the party.
