The Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday upheld the victory of Emmanuel Orkejev in the Benue North-west senatorial election held on February 23.
Orkejev, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, had won the election, but his victory was challenged by a former governor of the state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, George Akume.
The three-man panel of the Appeal Court led by Justice Louise Otis held that the former governor’s appeal lacked merit and based on hearsay.
