FG reaffirms pledge to host African Tourism Ministers

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has stated that the era of ‘godfatherism’ was over at the federal level as all appointments made by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration were based strictly on merit.

This claim was made by the minister in Abuja on Sunday at a thanksgiving reception by the newly appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Grace Gekpe.

Mohammed was represented by Bayo Onanuga, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria at the event.

He said, “Gone are those days when people were appointed into positions by other factors apart from merit.

“Most of us must have heard that the new permanent secretaries were asked to write examination; Gekpe was one of the very few that scaled through the examination.

“Gekpe is a shining and beautiful woman. That could have earned her the appointment, but not under this regime of Change.

“She is a permanent secretary by virtue of hard work, merit and because she has a lot of things to offer”.

All ministers appointed by Buhari are all incompetent and lack merits except Lai Mohammed who is competent and has merit for his portfolio. What a irony

Mr Lai is the number one failure in Buhari’s cabinet, he lacks merit and the required ability to hold the position he currently is!

Except for lopsided appointment, truly buhari appointed people who merited the jobs they are assigned

Lai Mohammed is not in the position to say this, with his performance so far, it shows he was not made a minister by merit. This man has caused more controversies in the dailies than discharging his constitutional duties

All appointments made by Buhari were on merit, yet they’ve all failed, not a minister is outstanding out of all the ministers. They must have cheated if they truly wrote exams before they got their appointments
