Arewa group uncovers IPOB plot to harass Buhari in US

An Arewa union under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Groups has raised an alarm of plots by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) to mobilise Nigerians resident in the United States to protest and humiliate President Muhammadu Buhari, who is in US for the 72nd United Nations General Assembly.

Buhari left Nigeria on Sunday to attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly 2017 debates in New York, US.
His travel came just as reports claim that Nigerians in the US are protesting against the alleged killings of members of IPOB and invasion of the home of the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by Nigerian Army deployed to the South East part of Nigeria over the activities of members of IPOB and purported criminal activities in the region.

But CNG, in a mail made available to newsmen on Sunday alleged that the group was currently mobilising for a protest targeted at humiliating President Buhari, who is among head of states that will address the UNGA.

CNG spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, added that IPOB also wants to use the plot against Buhari to provoke the northerners and incite the world against the Nigerian leader and his government.

He however said that CNG is already prepared to respond appropriately to the IPOB plots through writing to the UN to express its position against the antic of the recently banned IPOB group.

The northern group said it was satisfied that its position that IPOB be proscribed was heeded by the South-East governors and that the Defense Headquarters also fulfilled one of its demands that the group be tagged a terrorists group.

“We must state here that our position that IPOB be proscribed, its activities be declared as acts of terror, and its leaders be accordingly treated in the interest of a greater, peaceful and united Nigeria has to a large extent been vindicated which is also reassuring and encouraging.

“We also wish to state that we have privileged information that IPOB sponsors are mobilizing their members in the Diaspora to humiliate our dear President Muhammadu Buhari in New York where he is billed to address the United Nations General Assembly.

“We call on Nigerians to as well overlook this planned unpatriotic action by the IPOB supporters as it is nothing but another antic to provoke reactions. We assure all peace loving Nigerians that CNG is also preparing to counter IPOB’ foreign propaganda efforts by compiling relevant facts to be presented personally to the UN soon.

“Finally, we reiterate the call for calm and tolerance as the authorities diligently carry out their duties.”

We are not even planning anything of such, we carry the public along in our activities. If we were to do this Kanu himself would have announced it, the Arewa youths are just trying to be relevant

APC should send people who will counter the protests to US since that’s what they know how to do best, they should go and disgrace themselves in foreign land, just because they always want to proof Biafra wrong

There;s nothing the pro-Biafra agitators cannot do, they’ve been going to lengths and I’m sure they are not ready to stop. Good one from the Arewa Youths for their useful information, I’m sure Buhari already know how to handle the situation
