Armed thugs, soldiers allegedly shoot, kill one, hijack ballot boxes

Armed thugs, assisted by soldiers are said to have disrupted voting in Nembe Basambiri and Okoroba areas of Bayelsa State.

They were said to have stormed polling units in the areas shooting sporadically, killing one person in the process and injuring five others. They also allegedly hijacked ballot boxes and made away with them.

A candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa East Senatorial district, Chief Ipigansi Izagara, raised the alarm this morning while election was ongoing.
