Armenia: Hostage-takers surrender after 2 weeks of stand-off

 Peace has returned to the Armenian capital of Yerevan as armed hostage-takers calling for the freedom of opposition leader have surrendered two weeks after engaging security forces in an offensive.
The armed men had taken refuge inside a police compound where the hostages were held but surrendered their cause 14 days after with reports suggesting that one more gunman was wounded after police issued a 24 hour ultimatum to surrender.
“The security forces’ anti-terrorist operation has ended and led to the members of the armed group laying down their weapons and surrendering to the authorities,” the national security services said in a statement.
“Twenty terrorists were arrested.”
