ARMSGATE: Former Air Marshal earns accommodation in Kuje Prison

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday instructed that a retired Air Marshal, Tony Omeniyi, be kept back in Kuje Prison over alleged diversion of funds meant for the purchase of arms.

The court gave the instruction despite the accused pleading not guilty to the allegations levelled against him and his company, Huzee Nigeria Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The commission is accusing Omeniyi of diverting over N136 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

The defendant’s counsel, Wahab Olatunji, had prayed the court to release his client’s on bail arguing that the offence was bail-able.

However, the trial judge, Nnamdi Dimgba after listening to arguments from counsel, fixed November 14 for hearing and determination of the application for bail; but instructed that Mr. Omeniyi be remanded in prison till that day.
