Army keeps mum on reported killing of another Lt. Colonel

After months of pressure, petition, and appeals, the Nigerian Army has commuted the death sentence it pronounced on 66 soldiers early in the year to 10 years imprisonment.

This was disclosed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, in a statement on Saturday.

The Army Court Martial had sentence the 66 soldiers to death out of 72 soldiers that were tried for mutiny and other charges.

According to the statement, other cases involving convicted soldiers were being reviewed and would be made public as soon as the reveiws were completed.
