Army redeploys NYSC DG in major shake-up

Army accuses NGOs of providing humanitarian services to Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army on Friday announced the redeployment of the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Maj.-Gen Suleman Kazaure.

Eight other Generals were also affected with the redeployment announced by the Army Headquarters, Abuja on Friday.

Kazaure was redeployed to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja as a senior resource person, while, Brig.-Gen Shaibu Ibrahim was appointed to replace him.

Brig-Gen Ibrahim was with the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State before his new appointment as the 18th Director General of NYSC.

Also affected by the redeployment were Brig.-Gen C. A. Bossman from the Nigerian Army Archives redeployed to the Command Schools Services and appointed as the director; Brig.-Gen. E. Angaye posted to the Veteran Affairs Department and appointed as acting director; while Brig.-Gen. B. A. Tsoho was posted from the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs to the Nigerian Army Language Institute and appointed as commandant.

Army spokesman, Col. Sagir Musa said in a statement:.He said, “Others affected in the postings are Brig.-Gen A. A. Goni from the 82 Division Education to the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs and appointed as director, information; while Brig.-Gen F. C. Onyeari was moved from the Headquarters Nigerian Army Supply and Transport to the Defence Headquarters and appointed as the acting director, catering.

“Also, Brig.-Gen. S. Ibrahim from the Nigerian Army University, Biu has been moved to the National Youth Service Corps and appointed as the Director-General; while Brig.-Gen S. Ibrahim was appointed as the Registrar of the Nigerian Army University. The postings and appointments are with immediate effect.”
