'Respect your old age', stop lying, Jonathan’s ex-aide fires back at Buhari’s spokesman

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s arrest of lawyer, and son-in-law to presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, Atiku Abubakar.

Omokri said the arrest was done because Buhari was “very angry” and wanted to punish Atiku for acting “presidentially.”

The EFCC arrested Atiku’s lawyer, Uyi Giwa-Osagie, and his in-law, Abdullahi Babalele, on Friday.

The anti-graft agency, it was learnt, may be arraigning them in court after the national holiday, on Monday and Tuesday next week, over alleged laundering of $2 million in the build-up to this year’s general elections.

But reacting in a post via his official Twitter handle, Omokri wrote:

“@OfficialEFCChas arrested @Atiku’s lawyer (Uyi Giwa-Osagie) and his son-in-law (Abdullahi). They plan to charge them to court after the holiday because General @MBuhari is very angry that Atiku is acting “presidentially” and wants to use his people to teach him a lesson.

“Godswill Akpabio who had the biggest ever corruption case in Nigeria (₦108 billion), is a minister, while General @MBuhari harasses Atiku, a man who provides employment for 50,000 Nigerians. Arrest insecurity, not political opponents!”
