Arsenal come from 3-0 down to earn a point at Bournemouth

Arsenal completed a dramatic comeback against Bournemouth on Tuesday as they scored three times in the final 20 minutes having fallen 3-0 behind.

Bournemouth overwhelmed the Gunners early on and took the lead when Charlie Daniels struck past Peter Cech in the 16th minute. Callum Wilson scored a penalty four minutes later to extend Bournemouth’s lead, and Ryan Fraser made it three for the home team early in the second half.

The momentum of the match changed when Alexis Sanchez’s header and a stunning Lucas Perez left-footed volley restored hope, and brought the visitors close to levelling, before Simon Francis got sent off for a challenge on Aaron Ramsey.

The Gunners then capitalised on the one-man advantage, as Olivier Giroud headed a 92nd-minute equaliser to earn his team a point.

“I’m pleased to help the team by scoring the equaliser but I’m still disappointed,” Giroud said after the game.

“It’s nice to come back but the way we played at the end, that made me think we should have done better. At least we came back, showed great mental strength and I will take it.”

Arsenal are now eight points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, who will play their outstanding fixture against Tottenham on Wednesday.
