Arsenal put up a fine performance on their Premier League return as they defeated West Ham 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day.

The Gunners trailed in the 27th minute when Said Benrahma scored for West Ham from the spot.

The penalty was awarded to the visitors after Jarrod Bowen was judged to have been clipped in the box by William Saliba, and Benrahma converted.

Bukayo Saka then netted the equaliser after the break before Gabriel Martinelli & Eddie Nketiah added to the scoreline to extend Arsenal’s lead of the league.

With the win, the Mikel Arteta side are seven points above Newcastle United and eight clear of champions Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

West Ham are 16th and just a point above the relegation zone after their fourth league defeat in a row.
