Arsenal score four at Swansea City

Arsenal FC struck in all four goals of the match against Swansea City A.F.C on Saturday in their Premier League Match Day 21 clash at Liberty Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s men returned to the top four with a handsome victory, consigning coach Paul Clement to a demoralizing defeat in his first Premier League game in charge of the hosts.

The Gunners led at half-time when Olivier Giroud’s powerful, close-range finish opened the scoring at 37 minutes. And less than 10 minutes into the second half, Alex Iwobi’s strike looped in via a big deflection off Jack Cork to double their advantage.

Kyle Naughton scored a second Swansea own goal in the 67th minute when he turned another Iwobi shot into his own net, before Alexis Sanchez completed the score line less than five minutes later to lift Arsenal up to third in the table.

Elsewhere, Hull City defeated Bournemouth three goals to one – a result that means Swansea City have returned to the bottom of the league table.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger however admitted that the home team were well organized, as they truly showed some encouraging signs early in the game.

“The first half was very intense physically, they gave a lot in the first half and then our pace took over. They had problems to contain us,” Wenger said after the match.

“Swansea were very well organised and they closed down as a unit very well. We lost balls in the first 20-25 minutes which was down to them.

“In the second half, you could see we could create chances. Our transition and accuracy of passing was very good. We were fortunate with the goals, but the chances were there,” he added.

Alas, it doesn’t get any easier for Swansea as they travel to Liverpool next Saturday, while Arsenal host Burnley FC, who at the same time defeated Southampton 1-0, on Sunday, 22 January.
