Aubameyang sinks AC Milan at ICC; will not leave Dortmund this summer

Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted two goals in Borussia Dortmund’s first game at the International Champions Cup in China.

The German side defeated Serie A giants AC Milan 3-1 defeat on Tuesday at the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Central Stadium.

Nuri Sahin put Dortmund ahead in the 16th minute, before Aubameyang doubled their lead four minutes later scoring from the penalty spot.

Carlos Bacca got a goal back for AC Milan in the 24th minute when he shrugged off his defenders to hit a low shot to the bottom left corner beyond Dortmund keeper, Roman Weidenfeller.

It was in the second half that Aubameyang, whose future at the club has been a thing of speculations, scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1 in the 62nd minute.

Perhaps, against fan’s high expectations, Milan, which have been the biggest spenders in Europe, splashing out over €200 million on 10 players, have just begun the summer championship with a defeat.

Meanwhile, Dortmund have told Aubameyang that he will not be allowed to leave the club this summer. The club had given him a deadline before which he had to make any move and that deadline has now passed.

“We consider the transfer window closed. The timing [of it all] was decisive in the end,” said Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, on Tuesday.
