The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in yesterday’s election in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu is dead.

Although details of his death are still sketchy, Audu, a former governor of the state reportedly died on Sunday.

Audu, who garnered the highest votes in the keenly contested election, could not be declared ad winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, because the number of canceled votes was greater than the number of margin between him and the incumbent governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada, who came second.

A highly placed source who spoke with Ripples Nigeria, said the APC candidate died in the morning, rather than stories making the rounds that he died shortly after INEC declared the election results inconclusive.
