Australian Open: Murray joins Evans, Federer, Kerber, others in 3rd round

Tennis superstars Sir Andy Murray, Dan Evans, Roger Federer, Angelique Kerber, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori were all involved in Wednesday’s second round actions at Melbourne Park, as the Australian Open reaches Day 3.

The world No. 1, Murray, cruised past Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-0 6-2, while Evans caused a major upset, stunning the tennis world with a four-set victory 3-6 7-5 6-3 6-3 over world No. 7 Marin Cilic.

Andreas Seppi sent Nick Kyrgios packing early with a 1-6 6-7 (1-7) 6-4 6-2 10-8 win.

Defending Australian Open champion, Kerber enjoyed a birthday song from the crowd after her second-round win.

It was the world No. 1’s 29th birthday, and the Australian Open crowd serenaded her after beating Carina Witthoeft.
