Australian police charge 4 in connection with planned Christmas Day attack

Four men have been charged by a court in Australia’s second largest city of Melbourne after security operatives revealed that the arrested suspects were planning a Christmas Day attack.

Reports say five men were arrested in connection with the plot, while three of them have been charged to court. Hours after, authorities informed that the fourth suspect was later charged to court too.

The suspects Hamza Abbas, 21, Ahmed Mohamed, 24, and Abdullah Chaarani, 26, did not enter pleas or apply for bail and they will appear in court next on April 28 with each facing a life sentence if convicted.

The fourth suspect, a 22-year-old that authorities did not name, was also charged with preparing or planning a terrorist attack.
