Super Falcons star, Francisca Ordega was awarded the Woman of the Match (WOTM) in the team’s 4-0 victory over Zambia in a matchday 2 encounter at the ongoing Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

The midfielder made the assist that led to the opener by Desire Oparanozie towards halftime, before she doubled the lead 14 minutes into the second half to put Nigeria in command.

The Falcons missed several chances to score afterwards, with star striker Asisat Oshoala failing to convert some opportunities in front of goal.

But Rasheedat Ajibade, who came in for Oparanozie, made it 3-0 when she fired in a stunning shot from outside the box in the 73rd minute, before fellow substitute Amarachi Okoronkwo sealed the victory in added time.

The victory revived hopes of advancing to the semifinals of the competition, having kick-started their campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the opener.

Speaking after the match, Ordega said she knew she needed to do more to improve her performance as one of the experienced players in the team.

Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in their last group B match, as they look to secure a semifinal ticket in Cape Coast, Ghana.

The Thomas Dennerby side will also seal their ticket to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France if they finish as one of the best three teams in Ghana.
