Defection: Gov Ayade clears the air

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared incumbent Governor Ben Ayade as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Cross River State.

Ayade, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, polled a total vote of 381,484 votes to defeat his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator John Owan- Enoh, who got 131,161 votes.

Announcing the result, the returning officer for the governorship election in Cross River State , Professor Akii Ibhadode said, “Ben Ayade, having scored the required number of lawful votes is hereby declared winner of the election.”
