Ayade’s Commissioner fingered in killing of man by SARS

Crisis has erupted in Garkem, Bekwara Local Government Area of Cross River State over the alleged killing of one Edward by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

As at the time of filing this report, a number of houses have been burnt and many people relocated to Ogoja and Obudu to avoid the anger of youths who have since Friday reacted to the killing of Edward, said to be a revenue collector in the area.

According to New Telegraph source, the crisis began on Thursday when the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. Anthony Eneji brought some SARS operatives in a van to arrest some revenue collectors who were said to have opposed his taking over the collection point in the area.

But the youths resisted the arrest and blocked the area, not allowing the SARS operatives to leave with any of them, a situation that angered the SARS operatives and they reportedly shot into the air with a stray bullet hitting Edward killing him instantly.
