Ayew brothers star as Ghana make AFCON semi-finals

Sons of Ghana’s football legend Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew, Jordan and Andre, scored a goal each for Ghana on Sunday as they reached the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a 2-1 win over DR Congo in Oyem.

Jordan, an Aston Villa ace, opened the scoring in 62 minutes to put the Black Stars ahead, before Paul-Jose M’Poku equalised for DR Congo with a sensational curling long-range effort from outside the box five minutes later.

In the 78 minute of the game, West Ham’s Andre Ayew put Ghana ahead again after perfectly converting a spot kick, sending goalkeeper Matampi the wrong way to seal the win.

Ghana, seeking a first Cup of Nations title in 35years, will play Cameroon next Thursday in Franceville for a final place ticket.
