Ayo Fayose, a credible candidate for Presidency?

By Joseph Edgar …

At first glance you would think the headline is a joke won’t you? But this thought crossed my mind last week and ever since it has been building momentum and I am beginning to see the reality of its possible fulfillment.

Ayo fayose remains one of the most controversial public figures with some very funny and eye opening policies and actions. What with his recent appointment of a 72 year old carpenter as a local government Chairman and his continuous dress sense which makes light the position he represents. But apart from all these, if you look closer you will see his strengths

He is very bold, charismatic and very engaging. He is the only credible opposition to the APC today as the others being tainted with corruption and incompetence have lost face in the eyes of the Public and as such do not possess the moral grounds to launch a deliberate assault on power.

Fayose stands tall in his opposition, he has remained fearless and very consistent in whatever position he takes right or wrong. In these times where we are seeing somersaults in the promised ‘change’, inconsistency in what was promised and what is being delivered, I personally yearn for consistency in governance.

With a little brush up, better mentoring and positioning, Fayose within the next four years could launch an ambitious attempt at the Presidency. He is young, clear headed and very courageous, and as such could join other young Turks, like Bukola Saraki in that race.

So my egbon, let’s slow down on the comical and populist agenda, let’s make well thought out and carefully researched statements, run an efficient government in Ekiti and we can take advantage of Buhari’s current disposition against the federal character principle to launch our presidential gambit.

Why I am saying this is that, if we get it right, zoning should not disturb your declaration because by then it would be purely based on merit.

A Fayose Presidency should really be an exciting roller coaster ride.
