Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta has asked fans to bear with himself and his teammates after they crashed 6-0 at Manchester City.
A hattrick by Sergio Aguero, a brace by Raheem Sterling and a goal by Ilkay Gundogan secured a superb victory for the champions.
The Premier League loss on Sunday was Chelsea’s worst defeat since 1991, and the victory for City takes them to the top of the league table.
“All I can do is apologise to the fans because it is not acceptable,” the defender told reporters in a post-match interview.
“It is one of the worst nights in my career. It is difficult to explain what happened.
“The first five or six minutes went well but that is not enough. It is very frustrating and disappointing. We are conceding a lot of goals and we cannot accept that.
“When you lose 6-0 we have to accept we didn’t play well and made errors. We knew it would be tough.
“When we won at Stamford Bridge it was because we played well and were together. Today was not the case.”
While Manchester City are at the top of the league, Chelsea are sixth with equal points with fifth-placed Arsenal.
