Babangida’s spokesman, Afegbua, turns himself in for police interrogation

Media aide to former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, Kassim Afegbua, who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police, on Wednesday made himself available at Force headquarters, Abuja.

As at the time of filing this report, he was still being interrogated by the police over the statement he released on Sunday on behalf of the former military president.

The statement had admonished President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election and also urged Nigerians to dump analogue politicians for those conversant with the digital age.

However, following another statement where Babangida allegedly refuted the ealier one by his spokesman, the Police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, accused Afeguba of “making false statement, injurious falsehood, defamation of character and for act capable of inciting public disturbance throughout the country,” and declared him wanted.

Meanwhile, Babangida had allegedly said that the statement by Afegbua stands.

Afegbua, who had already dragged the Police, the Inspector General of Policd (IGP) to court over the matter, arrived the Police headquarters in the company of his lawyer, Kayode Ajulo and some family members.
