Bahrain arrests lawyer for suing govt over restrictions imposed on Qatar

Authorities in Bahrain have arrested a prominent human rights lawyer for daring to sue its government over restrictions imposed on neighbouring Qatar over a festering diplomatic row.

Reports say the lawyer, Issa Faraj Arhama al-Burshaid was arrested and detained after filing a case with the Supreme Administrative Court in Manama against the Cabinet.

He challenged Manama’s sanctions, against Qatar which include blocking its citizens from staying in the country along with other economic penalties.
