Police nabs, arraigns security guard one year after stealing N25m bus

A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, on Tuesday, sentenced a 22-year-old baker, Lawal Kamoru, to 13 years imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The convict and three others who are on the run, allegedly gang-raped the victim inside an uncompleted building on Oluwanishola Street in the Bariga-Ilaje area of the state.

The victim whose name was withheld told the court that she and her younger sister were on their way home from a church vigil on February 1, 2014 around 5.15am when they were accosted by four men, who ordered them to kneel down.

She said on sighting some people coming towards their direction, the men immediately ordered them to get up and go but trailed them quietly.

When the victim and her younger sister realised that they were been followed, they tried to run but the men threatened to kill them.

The girls were beaten while the men took turns raping her but the younger sibling managed to escape.

She added that she woke up in the hospital after spending two days in coma.

Delivering her judgement, Justice Adebiyi sentenced Kamoru to 13 years in prison custody after finding him guilty of the one count of defilement levelled against him by the state.
