Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun was missing from the matchday squad of Brighton, who defeated Derby County 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the English FA Cup.

The Seagulls looked in total control after goals from Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia put them ahead in the first half.

But Derby continued to look for chances and finally got one when former England full-back Ashley Cole pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 81st minute.

The goal was his first competitive goal in English football for six and a half years.

Derby, who had twice come from 2-0 down to reach this stage, pushed for an equaliser, but Brighton held on to their lead, and secured their spot in the last eight of the competition.

The Premier League side will now fight to make it to the semifinal of the FA CUP for the first time since 1983.
